The first Transnational Learning Journey (TLJ) of the Interreg Europe INERTWASTE project has taken place in the region of Navarre. Miguel Ángel González Moreno, representing the coordination team of the LIFE-IP NAdapta-CC project, took the opportunity to take part in the sessions held on November 14 and 15 in Pamplona in order to learn about the actions and work being carried out in this European project, as well as the possible search for synergies, both with regional partners and with foreign partners who attended and who are parto of the Inertwaste consortium, framed within the networking actions of LIFE-Ip NAdapta-CC.

Characteristics of the event

Organized by the Environment Direcctorate General of the Goverment of Navarre and the public company GAN-NIK, the event focused on the regulatory frameworks for the sustainable management of inert waste under the title ‘TLJ#1-Regulatory frameworks’. Its objective was to understand the regulatory framework for the valorization of inert and inorganic waste from industrial processes and the construction sector in different regions, share good practices and innovative approaches from 4 different European countries in the implementation of public policies for the efficient use of resources, identify strategies to improve the valorization of inert and inorganic waste focused on both regional (Navarre) and national level (Estate), with contributions from other European regions  and provide knowledge exchange, enhance capacity building and foster networking and partnership.

Waste and climate change

It should be noted that the waste sector is one of the strategic sectors included in the Roadmap for Climate Change in Navarre (HCCN-KLINA) with the objective of reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in the region and shaping the citizens of Navarre as a reference society in the use of resources and waste minimization, key concepts in the transition towards a circular economy and the fight against climate change.
