10-12-2019

The technical workshop "Forest fires facing climate change" was held on the 21st and 22nd November, promoted by the Civil Protection and Emergency Service of the Government of Navarra and organised jointly by the European projects LIFE NAdapta and POCTEFA INTERREG ALERT. During the sessions, which gathered 120 attendants, experts on the topic shared management experiences of the recent great fires occurred in Spain and the preventive aspect was addressed through fuel management experiences and from a planning and collaborative perspective. Due to the new climate change-derived climatic conditions and land-use changes that favor more intense and virulent fires that scape operatives control capacity, speakers emphasized the importance of prevention as the main tool to tackle this risk.
